Directioner-CLI

A local engineer that reads, edits and runs your code.

Directioner-CLI is the AI engineering agent. It works in your terminal, on your machine, within a boundary you grant.

Status: Available

What it is

The local agent behind the AI-Engineer capability.

Directioner-CLI reads your repository, proposes and applies changes, and runs commands to check its own work.

It is built for Linux and Directioner-OS, where it is a prebuilt component. It is not a Windows application and it is not a public package you install from a registry.

You can drive it directly by typing, or let Aria start and supervise a task by voice. Aria is an additional control surface, never the gatekeeper.

Capabilities

What it does.

Reads your code

Works across a repository, not a single file. It reasons about structure before it edits.

Runs and checks

Executes commands to verify its own changes, inside the workspace boundary you grant.

Hardened boundaries

Path containment, symlink and TOCTOU defence, an environment allowlist and prompt-injection fencing.

Honest verification

It reports what it checked and what it did not. A change is not called done on a self-report alone.

Bring your own key

Development and testing can use your own provider keys. Hosted mode keeps them server-side.

System diagnostics

A read-only probe of the machine, with redaction and honest provenance.

Authority

The trust and authority model.

Authority lives in exactly three places: local tool authority in the CLI, cloud action authority in the backend, and privileged machine authority in Directioner-OS.

The CLI holds local tool authority within the workspace boundary you grant it. It does not hold privileged machine authority. When a task needs a privileged operation, that request goes to Directioner-OS and is decided there.

This is why repository content, tool output and model output can inform the agent but can never authorise an action.

Available today.

The local terminal agent edits code, runs commands, and supports provider configuration and a doctor command with no mandatory login. Account sign-in, device registration and cloud task history are designed but not yet implemented.
